Hello!
I can recommend following therapeutic massage therapist:
Lic. Warren Rodriguez Soto
Terapia Fisica
Atenas
Tel. 821-4817 + 446-8195
He has a lot of special licences and is located not far from the main road from San Jose to Jaco (there is a sign on the street)...
If you re think about staying in Atenas (which I also would recommend ...):
friends of us are building at the moment a guest house with a special treatment possibility - a kind of hydro massage. How it works - more or less - look here: http://www.frei-gesund.ch/info/info_e.htm
Our friend swears that this treatment is GREAT for a lot of deseases, maybe it could help you, too!?!
They should be ready in March. If you re interested in, please let me know and I send you their address.
Regards
Sylvia

Hello again!
Fine that I could help you with the info.
In between I ve asked our friend about the conditions of his small private ¨health center¨ in Atenas. He plans to offer as follows (hope, I understood him right):
USD 375,- / week for accommodation with breakfast per person
USD 10,- / day for 45 minutes water massage treatment per person
USD 25,- / day lunch and dinner per person
The meals are part of the treatment, healthy diet is offered to improve the success (- I ve not really an idea what I m writing about, but he told me, that fibromyalgia is a kind of rheumatic disease and only this combination will lead to a good result...).
Please let me know when you re interested in.
Regards from sunny Atenas/ CR
Sylvia

Hello again!
I m sorry , I really don't want to "educate" you, but with my experience of 25 years in the travel business..., please let me say, that sometimes less is more! Your schedule remembers me a little bit on our running gag back home (I m German): Northamericans on tour - whole Europe in 4 days...
If I for myself would do the trip, I would cancel Panama City, San Jose - and maybe the "second" coast. Only a suggestion...
Verybest regards to (frosty???) Canada
Sylvia
PS: If you want, you can email me offline coricalive@aol.com

Hola 'Caliente' Sylvia
For this year it will be a Costa Rica expirience, meaning we want to see the most we possibly can and next year we can decide on an area where we really would like to come back to and re-visit and stay longer. Yes, I know what you mean " visit Europe in 4 days, you do not get to see much of anything, traveling most of the time"
Frosty, your Canadian amigo.lol

dear jim,
found your message while looking for "fibromyalgia, costa rica" on google; I do have fibromyalgia too - and therefore I spent last year 3 months in Costa Rica to run away from the cold weather in Germany.
the warm weather in costa rica made me feel better - but not good enough. after returning to germany three months earlier I found help for my fibromyalgia - I'm suffering now for more than 30 years. some germans translated a book from Dr. Paul St. Amand - a north-american doctor.
I'm on guaifenesin now for 9 months - and this is the first winter I'm feeling better in many years.
may be after costa rica this can help you:

have a nice journey - monika, from germany

 Fibromyalgia Massage
Hi,
My wife, Eva Luze Lopez Rivera de Thomas gives therapeutic massage at the Medical Clinic of Dr. Ronald Mena in Orotina, Alajuela. It's on the way from San Jose to Jaco (and points beyond). Unfortunately she doesn't speak English, and I am not sure the staff does either. She is a studied professional massage therapist (no hanky panky) thus she is in a clinic helping people with therapeutic massage needs. Most of her patients are women because most fibromyalgia and rheumatic disease sufferers are women. I believe massage may be the best therapy for fibromyaliga, and most professional massage therapists have seen some success. Her fibromyalgia patients rave. (Of couse beware the non-professional).
She charges 5,000 colones/hour, about $10.00/hour. A bit of a locals price, and she won't charge vacationers more.
