I am leaving for a week vacation in Costa Rica on Friday, May 18th. We are staying at the Fiesta Resort and Casino in Puntarenas and plan on doing lots of tours and activities. I've been looking at the weather forecast and it's calling for thunderstorms the whole time we're there. I know that this is the beginning of the rainy season and was just wondering if anyone could give me some insight into how much rain to expect. Afternoon showers or all day downpours? yes, I just got back from Puntarenas. There will be rain. Usually starting at about 2-4 and lasting til about 7-9. I'd arrange all your outdoor activities in the morning. I had to cancel my horseback tour yesterday evening due to too much rain. the sun comes up at about 5 which is the best time to wake up and wander around the beach or jungle and enjoy the views and wildlife........and especially the privacy. Then start an early morning tour at around 8am. then come back to the hotel around 2 and take a nap in preparation for the nightlife if that is what you desire.........Naps are important here if you're and early bird.....I love this country! PURA VIDA!!
