I wonder if anyone can tell me anything about Matapalo . I am looking for a quiet romantic place with few tourists, a long deserted beach, a few restaurants and hotels close to the beach, no traffic and no surfing scene. A place for romantic dinners and then a walk along beach looking at the stars. A place to get to know a Tica who I have just gotten to know. I think Robbie mentioned a hotel there a while back. It is where she goes to get away. Thanks

deserted beach-yes;few tourists--yes;good surfing but no surfing scene like Jaco or Dominical; no fancy dining nor fancy hotels; have friends who just opened a nice B&B on the beach; don't look for any gormet meals by candle light; can be rainy and buggy; no traffic; relatively inexpensive; more likely to step in horse manure than get run over; just don't expect anything fancy; email me if you want any more details; I own some property in Matapalo, building a house there, just got back from there on Sunday. A tranquil, relatively secure place where you aren't waiting to get mugged or get your pocket picked; very nice locals and a strange but harmless mix of estranjeros. Mike

there are two matapalos en costa rica. one is on the peninsuala the osa where you find a lot of wildlife. the other matapalo is situated 15km south of quepos on a verry nice sandbeach. there i would recomend the swiss "cabinas piedra buena", they have good prices and sale also good food.
