Post QUESTIONS
wHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS TO LIVING IN CR. CONSIDERING MOVING THERE AT SOME POINT IN TIME. I KNOW THERE ARE LOWER TAXES (FOR NOW). WHAT IS A COMFORTABLE AMOUNT TO LIVE ON THERE. WHAT AREAS ARE THE BEST AND WHICH AREAS SHOULD BE AVOIDED. THESE ARE JUST A FEW QUESTIONS FOR NOW.

Post Re: QUESTIONS
Pretty general questions. I will be moving to Costa Rica in about 9 or 10 months. I visited there in February 2005 and purchased property and will be building a house when I arrive.

Taxes are very low, normal living expenses are also low. Gas is high like the USA maybe even higher. You do not need heating or air condioning. So not much spent on utilities. If you want to live like a North American then you will pay the higher prices.

If you own your home and car, you should be able to live fairly well on about $1,000 USA per month. Electronics, cars, any imports are higher than USA due to import tax.

Hope this helps.

Post Re: QUESTIONS
Dvorak 1, The most affordable areas of Costa Rica with the best overall climate is the western portion of the central valley of Palmares, San Ramon, Atenas, or Naranjo. There you can find the most affordable properties and living expenses. Stay away from the larger areas such as San Jose, Alajuela, etc. If you want concise information from those of us who already live here as residents and have experienced many of the things you will have to go through, check out our website at www.costaricapropertysa.com for more information.
