I would recommend Jaco beach... there are alot of touristy things to do, there are several hotels, beds and breakfast places, or big resorts....it is easy to get around and pretty near the rainforest and other hiking type things (i believe). It is also best beach for surfing...and there are alot of gringos there, better for travelling alone. :) good luck and pura vida :) Jennifer
