I don't know if this is the best way, but if you go to Google and search for real estate costa rica, you will have many happy hours - I still haven't reached the end. I've found several 20 acre pieces at $50K or thereabouts - but if you buy unspoiled forest and build on it, isn't that "spoiling" it? What about looking for a mixed use farm which has already been spoiled, and building where the site is already cleared, and reforesting? Just a thought.
